I went to Luton Central Library today to get a free rapid Covid-19 test.

I don't have symptoms.

An interview with myself (as you do)...

Thread 👇
1️⃣ What's the point of getting tested?

"1 in 3 people don't have symptoms. So I could be passing the disease onto others without knowing it."

👇
2️⃣ How was the experience?

"EASY"

➡️ Quick - in and out in 5min. Got a text with my result within 30min

➡️ Simple - stuck a swab in my mouth and nose (thankfully in that order)

➡️ Safe - social distancing and screens

👇
3️⃣ So, what was the result?

"I tested negative"

For clarity see #Trump

👇
4️⃣ Why get a test if we should be at home?

"Parts of my job I can't do at home. And I also go out for essential shopping.

If had Covid I could be spreading it to those more vulnerable to me"

👇
5️⃣ What difference would it make if you were positive?

"I would immediately self-isolate for 10 days at home

And therefore not pass it onto my family, colleagues or elderly people at the supermarket."

👇
6️⃣ I wouldn't self isolate...no-one can tell me what to do.

"That's a bit selfish, don't you think? Do you realise tens of thousands of people are dying from it?

Each individual action can stop families being destroyed by this god-awful virus"

👇
7️⃣ But if I self-isolate I don't get income

"That's a fair point and a massive challenge for many.

But it doesn't give you the right to put vulnerable people's lives at risk

Financial and other support is available for those that need it"

8️⃣ Any final comments?

"Staying at home is one way out of this horror show

Until vaccines are rolled out widely, testing is also a vital part of the fight.

Get tested, Luton" 👍
