A low-income kid with an immigrant parent was twice as likely to be pulled out of nutrition & healthcare programs than a kid with US citizen parents, even as the economy improved between 2016-2019.

The Trump administration, by spewing anti-immigrant rhetoric & baseless claims that it could punish permanent residents for using safety net programs, scared parents into going without essential food & healthcare.

Biden has promised to eliminate the public charge rule, & it's tangled up in complex litigation.
After 4 years of fear & misdirection, who knows how long it will take to make parents confident that they're legally entitled to take care of their kids.
