Very rarely is this kind of information compiled by the gfx AP. That’s a pretty specific stat and would take more resources and time than APs have as they prep. Stats as specific as this are typically lifted from game notes of some form.
Now for the uninitiated, game notes are something that each schools SIDs work on and share with media members. They compile individual and team statistics from generic to more specific like above. Typically each school focuses on stats and storylines revolving around their team.
ESPN Stats and Info also does game notes. Now theirs are much less detailed and are typically only made for bigger games, but during bowl season they’ll release a packet breaking down all bowls games and going over noteworthy stats, trends, and storylines.
So when I see that GFX I know that the AP working that night wouldn’t have compiled that info themselves. They would’ve picked it up from a set of notes. So I pull up Liberty’s game notes and sure enough, there the nugget is. However, I think you’ll notice a difference.
Looks like this was a case of someone confusing the last part of the stat and said P5 teams instead of ACC teams. I’m sure this doesn’t make App fans any happier that their accomplishment from last year was swept over but just a little insight into how mistakes like that make air
