Would it be helpful for organizers to have a list of questions disabled people have to run through before deciding if they can go to an event? I can start with mine and others can add on. This isn’t to shame but hopefully bring some awareness of the barriers. 1/4
1. Can I get there directly on public transportation?
2. If not, can I find a ride?
3. Will I have to walk a long way to get to everyone?
4. Is there a bathroom nearby?
5. Are there curbs/stairs?
6. Will I have access to someone who can help guide me if it’s dark out? 2/4
7. Will there be seating or will I have to stand?
8. Will I be able to hear speakers?
9. Am I going to be put on the spot or have to ask help from people I don’t know? 3/4
With the exceptions of DAs which I know by virtue can’t always accommodate the not walking parts, I usually can’t go anyway. 4/4
