THREAD
: Right okes so with level 3 being back, our fitness futures are already looking a little different. This year I embarked on a serious âhome reloadâ so I wanna share some ways literally anyone (hi couch tatoes) can keep fit and moving while weâre locked in

The first thing is to establish a mental and physical WHY that will keep you going. Some strengthening your body against illness, creating a stable routine in the midst of instability, using the body as a site of focus/motivation, increasing endurance, mobility or strength.
Secondly, itâs about knowing what you are willing to do and what kind of person you are. So if youâre masochistic like me, a 2 week Chloe Ting shred is amazing, but if youâre warming up to your body, a commitment to 2/3 days bedtime yoga is enough.
Fitness happened for me on AND OFF the mat. Things like drinking 2L water religiously (even if you get half way at first), tackling my sleep hygiene and eating vegetables at least once a day everyday are things you bring to your practice. [2.2L bottle from Checkers/PNP]
Online training/content: Ultimately your home reload will rely on 2 things. 1) Seeing fitness as fun rather than punishment and most 2)accessing online content that you enjoy and keep coming back to. Donât follow aerobics huns you canât relate to, redo workouts you love over!
Precursor done, two categories ahead. 1) Fitness content EYE recommend and 2) additionals to enhance the journey. Letâs get into the content babyyyy
HIIT (high intensity interval training) is amazing for cardio training, cell regeneration, gaining a tiny bit of strength to up your fitness. My favourites in:
- Natacha Oceane
- Em Ricketts
- BullyJuice
- PopSugar Fitness
- Nike Training Club
- Bowflex
- Chloe Ting

Yoga and mobility: This is a slow and easy way to get friendly with your body without strain. I do a lot of Nike Yoga but I also really rate
- The gyal @Humbs_
- Yoga app: free to use
- Reduce Girl (IG)
- Roxy Louw (IG)

Strength: Once you start doing a lot of HIIT you may feel the limits of body weight (for me this was 2 months in). Include resistance bands (
) and light weights/kettlebells/medicine ball to up the ante. Check out:

I think itâs SUPER important to watch and engage content with your own body type in mind. Watching black women with my shape lift and push is infinitey more inspiring/realistic than wanting to look like Kayla Itsines. LOVE Melanin Fit Inspo then thereâs George whoâs just

Running, resting and active recovery: I took up running to strengthen my plyo and also cause I could barely run down to get my UberEats. Use it donât use it. Resting and recovery are KEY- this shit gets addictive fast so commit to rest or youâll burn out and not come back at all!
Right onto the additionals: Iâm talking gear, the dreaded supplements, treats, etc. First thing is music. For me âgym musicâ is HELL. Purely on hip hop for training, pop for running and instrumentals for yoga. Hereâs my âWork it out bbâ playlist to start: https://open.spotify.com/user/mbnwh1aceudwx5v0scmq1777p/playlist/0HnkLcMo9hv1ulgvL8bzvi?si=UNZ5oFc-RcSNDZQ9LYigpw
I generally love Spotify more but Appleâs workout playlists (look out for the Nike ones especially) are really solid. Hereâs one I like a lot: https://music.apple.com/za/playlist/gymflow/pl.ae7c5093e09e49bcb60ec2a1fa2eec24
Gear: Expensive gear is not gonna make you work out if you donât want to so PLEASE donât go buy everything Nike or GymShark has ever made. Affordable, durable options include:
- @cottononbody
- @MrPriceSport (the
for gear and equipment for me)
- @Makro_SA has great bras

Please be aware of a lot of charlatan brands selling Under Armour/Gym Shark style gear for HEAPS of money but have no support, no dri fit tech, no colour fast. If youâre gonna spend racks get the OGs. (But open to hearing about amazing local gear cause thatâs the preference
)

And then in terms of things to put in the body, Iâm a big fan of safe supplements. My faves:
- @grenadeofficial Carb Killa bars are EVERYTHING. Available at @Dischem and online I believe. The birthday cake

- @BiogenSA: Vit C liquid, water enhancer, plant based protein

I struggle sometimes to get my ideal 20-30g protein everyday so I started taking the Noa and Co (local Durban brand) plant protein powder. I have it as a post workout or in my oats or in smoothies. Tastes incredible and is 20g/serving.
Beyond that itâs just on you to decide that you deserve to feel good. And honestly the more you get into the less often youâll want to give up or quit. Donât get me wrong I am not skinny, I still eat a lot of cake and pizza and I skip days and make excuses bruh
But for the most part I see the way this kept my mental and physical health stable. And when youre sweating youâre not anyoneâs anything youâre just a person looking after/loving themselves. GOOD LUCK
I post my food and fitness daily on stories on IG @binwinning - letâs get it!

Think itâs important to say that all bodies of all sizes and abilities matter. Literally itâs cool I lost some weight but I donât care that much about a number or a size, I just want better performance each day and a place to recommit to myself. Do not feel pressure! Youâre ok
