Finally finishing Queen’s Gambit and why did it have to be created directed and produced all by men
Queens Gambit is why girls grow up and don’t understand why what they’re doing isn’t working — because the stories they watched about working hard and succeeding against the odds were made by men
These men profit off telling well-made inspirational stories like Queens Gambit but they’re just not true (or the directing/producing/creating of these shows would also include women, at the very least)
When you have men in charge of making a prestige TV series like Queens Gambit—starring a genius woman—they cast a former model to play her. Like we couldn’t root for her unless underneath her ordinary clothes and haircut she was beautiful.
