“The Pakistanis love China for what it can do for them, while the Chinese love Pakistanis despite what they do to themselves.”

The ‘near diplomatic disaster’ with China during Lal Masjid Siege in 2007. Ambassador Luo Zhaohui reached to Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, Shuakat Aziz, Chaudry Shuhjat for the release of Chinese hostages. DC Islambad & SP were reported to have begged Abdul Rashid Ghazi for release.
🇨🇳 China found Asif Ali Zardari far less congenial to deal with. China’s relationship with Pakistan 🇵🇰 has never been quite the same post 2007.

“Pakistan is China’s Israel.” 🇵🇰 🇨🇳 🇮🇱

——— General Xiong Guangkai
Pakistan is a central part of China’s transition from a regional power to a global one. It lies at the heart of Beijing’s plans for a network of ports, pipelines, roads, and railways connecting oil & gas fields of Middle East to mega cities of East Asia.
Cultural affinities and common values often help to underpin friendships and alliances. Pakistan 🇵🇰 China 🇨🇳 are exception.
What does Pakistan actually do for China?

Answer lies in strong relations between USA and India.

In China 🇨🇳 , articles on topics such as the nuclear ☢️ relationship are designed to mislead, not to enlighten.
A FRIENDSHIP FORGED BY WAR !!!!!
In a legendary secret operation, Henry Kissinger was taken in PIA to China routing through Pakistan. USA ana China did not reciprocate any favour to Pakistan against India backed by USSR. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto hoped to receive support from both USA 🇺🇸 and China 🇨🇳.
In 1971 India left its North exposed:-

1. Nixon warned India not to initiate hostilities.

2. Kissinger advised to leave India to its fate.

3. Nixon wanted China to move forces.

4. Kissinger suggested Chinese Army to help Pakistan.

Why China did not open front with India?
Nixon moved aircraft carrier into Strait of MALLACA & subsequently to Bay of Bengal to support China against any USSR intervention and reinforce the message to USSR. Kissinger was also hopeful that China would enter war to help Pakistan. We were waiting anxiously for China move.
Eleven reasons that why China did not militarily supported Pakistan in 1971 by opening India’s exposed North.

1-Military turmoil
2-Mao removed high command
3-Mao’s chosen successor died (suspiciously)
4-Coup attempt(presumably)
5-1000 senior commanders purged
6-Political crisis
7-Military intervention in N Vietnam 🇻🇳
8-Major clash with USSR
9-Russia moved 45 divisions
10-Risk of nuclear strike
11/11-Most importantly, China mainly was uncomfortable with the crackdown in East Pakistan.
Assistance provided by China to Pak during 1971 crisis :-

1-Military & economic aid throughout
2-Large shipment of arms to E Pak
3-Training & equipping of 2 divisions
4-Further 100$ million assistance
5-Scrapped UNSC on Pak’s behalf
6-Vetoed Bangladesh 🇧🇩 till Indian withdrawal
The seeds of the Pakistanis’ misplaced hopes had been sown six years earlier. The Indo-Pak war in 1965 did not involve a great deal more Chinese military activity than in 1971.
The path to the ‘all-weather friendship’ had been a torturous one.
Initial years of ‘all-weather friendship’

1-SEATO (1954), CENTO (1955), & bilateral cooperation agreement with USA in 1959.
2-NAA Listening Post at Badaber to spy on Chinese & Russian.
3-1950s Hindi-Chini- Bhai-Bhai
4-Support to US against China in Xingiang / Tibet.
5-NAM🇮🇳🇨🇳
🇵🇰🇨🇳🇮🇳 1959 proved to be pivotal year in Sinologist-Indian relationship.

🇵🇰🇨🇳🇮🇳 1959, Lhasa insurgency begins.

🇵🇰🇨🇳🇮🇳 1959, Dalai Lama fled on foot to India

🇵🇰🇨🇳🇮🇳 1959 , Sino-Pakistan relationship founded.

The nightmare of a combined attack by Pakistan and China, with the possibility of defeat , collapse, and even anarchy in India was much on my mind. Noted J. K Galbraith, then US Ambassador in New Delhi, who worries about Pakistan, “ forming some kind of Axis with Peking.”
Sino-Pakistan border dispute was signed in 1963.

1-Negotiated by Manzur Qadir, Bhutto only signed to win acclaim.

2-China transferred 1942 square kilometres to Pak.

3- 6/7 passes accorded to Pak.

4-Pak transferred none of its territory.

Good looks fabrics and Tailors at Islambad , Pakistan 🇵🇰 made the bags containing nuclear ☢️ drawings and blueprints and technical instructions to make a bomb step by step. The bag from Libya 🇱🇾 was transported to USA 🇺🇸.

AQ Khan’s nuclear ☢️ black marketing had played a crucial role in bringing these secrets in the hands of rogue states. Within days, AQ Khan was removed, because his black market expanded to four continents. China-Pakistan nexus is strictly guarded and secreted.
A Pakistani general asked one of very modest-looking individuals, who was dressed in unpressed trousers and jacket, to fetch his suitcase. The man actually moved to comply. I was horrified & stopped him,& apologised for my countryman’s blunder— he was a Lieutenant General in PLA.
Chinese Premier Zhou Enali had fought in more battles than one could count. For several years he was a Divisonal Commander and then chief of the general staff of the PLA.
A.Q. Khan made his first overseas trip in September 1976 to China and met with Chinese nuclear ☢️ officials. He returned to Pakistan in 1977c and brought with him the designs for virtually every centrifuge he could lay his hands on at URENCO’s facilities in the Netherlands 🇳🇱.
Intriguing and interesting facts

Israel 🇮🇱 , India 🇮🇳, Russia 🇷🇺 had possible intentions to pre empt and attack on Pakistan’s nuclear assets on lines of Israel’s strike on Osirak destroying Iraq’s 🇮🇶 latent nuclear programme.

During one trip abroad in 1980s , US intelligence gained access to Baggae of A.Q. Khan in a hotel room and found drawings of a bomb and the instructions to make it, the very document that would later be sold to Libya 🇱🇾 & possibly other countries too.
