i really value craftsmanship which is why i hate seeing some of the popular oil paintings on here. no subtleties in values, wonky eyes, lips that look like they were pasted on. not thinking of anyone specific but it makes me feel weird bc i agonize over every detail in my work
you can genuinely tell the difference between a lack of effort and stylistic choices by the way, especially if things are inconsistent/the rest of a piece is beautifully rendered.
ppl who know my process know that it is dumb slow and i can spend hours rendering gradations. i just can't imagine putting a piece out into the world acting like it's finished when it isn't that's all.
then again I have to remember the whole quantity vs quality thing and trying to pump out pieces to make money and my own goofy irrational desire to place more value on the integrity of my art than anything else lol and that is why I'll die poor and unknown
