KH Days has the most fleshed out relationship between the main trio in comparison to the Wayfinders and Destiny trio tbh. We literally see them build their relationship from the ground up & use what they see in the Disney worlds to make sense of it and what it means to be human.
In BBS we see how Ven meets T & A and him waking up from his coma, and some flashbacks between him and Terra and that’s about it. We don’t know how Terra and Aqua met. We don’t know how they met Eraqus. It’s more tell than show.
Now speaking AS a Wayfinder stan, I know how to take the way their dynamic is and make inferences btwn the little backstory we’re given. I don’t doubt Ven first appearing as a fragile kid who lost his memory from trauma made a huge impact on how protective Terra and Aqua are.
I’m not saying that their friendship is a lot less believable with what we have. But it’s still nice to see a general foundation of how their relationship came to be and how it Collectively reacts to different events.
This goes for the Destiny trio too. We know they’re childhood friends, and we do get to see some of their dynamics in the prologue to KH1 which is more than what BBS gave. But we never see them together as a unit like we do for the Days & Wayfinder trio.
Honestly the last time I remember SRK talking together to each other was in KH2. Correct me if I’m wrong since I haven’t touched KH3 since it came out, but most of the time they’re talking to each other in duos, with SK, SR or RK.
There’s also just working together as a unit in the worlds & in combat. For Days we see missions where RXA go visit worlds & fight together. In BBS we only really see them fight together twice, but at least there is a small nod to Disney town when they reunite in RG.
To this day the Destiny trio have not been in combat together Once. When we do see them fight together, it’s always in duos, never all 3 of them together. Which honestly makes me sad considering that’s what they wanted since the first game.
Honestly I wish that they kept the original motive for the Organization since it made it easier to empathize with them. For the most part in Days you’re really just seeing Roxas try to figure out what it means to be human (having a heart).
The discussions on the clock tower allow all three of them to reflect on the events that they saw in the Disney worlds they visited and it’s a very different approach to how the protagonist usually just helps the events of the movie happen and defeat the enemies there.
I’m not trying to say the game is a lot deeper than what it is, but it is an interesting approach that is only in that game. And it works in giving us a lot of interaction between original characters and frankly being the most introspective imo.
All this to say, Days is really underrated for its dialogue and character interaction between the main trio, and the movie doesn’t do it justice. I’m still waiting for a Days remake
