According to PBPStats, the Knicks rank 4th in Shot Quality (expected eFG based on location and shot context). Emphasis on corner threes, assisted threes, and attempts at the rim paying off.

The Knicks rank 3rd in frequency of shots at the rim (39.6%). They're only shooting 50% on those; similar to expected regression on their league-leading 3pt %, we can expect that rim shooting to go up as well.
The Knicks rank 4th in frequency of corner 3's (12%). This means just over half of their shots are either at the rim or corner threes. Overall, the Knicks are taking 10 corner 3's (7th) and 32.5 shots at the rim (6th) per game.
So you can definitely attribute some of the Knicks' success to luck, but they are clearly focused on getting the most valuable types of shots. The Knicks are also 13th in the league in FTA.
