I'm being far too negative, so here's a positive story. I received maybe the best Christmas gift I've ever received this year for Christmas. So it's basically a Christmas tradition in Jamaica to get a rum cake around holiday time and I usually get one every year.
However, this year I couldn't find one that was reasonably priced since my wife (not Jamaican) doesn't eat it, and spending over $40 on a rum cake I'd have to eat myself wasn't in the budget. So sadly, I wasn't gonna get one this year.
So it's Christmas morning and my kids come over and we're opening presents and talking, having fun and my middle child, Tristan, brings me one last present... it's a rum cake!

Now here's the best part, and why kids are the best. My wife didn't call him and tell him I was looking for one, he actually thought of it bc he remembered that I bought one every year when he was growing up and I guess he didn't see when he had came over a few days beforehand.
He went through the trouble of calling the mother of a friend of his, asked her to make one for me, paid for it I'm sure, and surprised me with it Christmas morning. The smile on my face couldn't have been bigger. Not bc of the rum cake, but bc of the thought he put into it.
It really is the little things that count, and I had probably forgotten that over the years, but I'm glad my boy reminded me of it again. God bless.
It's really the best gift I ever remember getting, even though I ate the entire thing in like 4 days... what, I'm on vacation!??
He also got me one of those flat wallet thingys, so that was cool as well. Anyway, just thought I'd share that, it's something I won't forget.
