(case in point about @/agrimonious and other "allies");

if you're not muslim, you really cannot understand the lived experiences that we've gone through, since the time of our birth. our existence is not something that can be debated on/discussed over a cup of tea.
a "true" ally will NEVER ever assume to even understand/explain our pain. not even if they've spent their whole life with a muslim, or with muslim relatives, or with muslim friends, or if they're dating a muslim, or even if they know & understand islam.
if you're not muslim, you can't speak in lieu of us. it's as simple as that.

muslim friends, own your identity, your muslimness. it's yours. you have skin in the game. and no one can take that away from you.
& please do not hesitate to call out people who do try to take away your voice. even if they're well-meaning allies. your life is on the line, not theirs. if they don't listen, they're not really your allies. they're outraging only for the sake of outraging, for the sake of fame.
the centre stage does not belong to them. it belongs to you. because you're the one who'll pay either way, NOT them.
oh, and i forgot to add (and this is just my opinion): people in bollywood cannot really be allies. speaking from experience. like, if you're a part of one of the most islamophobic industries of india, and you don't do anything to curb it, or speak against it, then +
when you outrage outside of your work, it doesn't really carry much significance. it's blatant hypocrisy, in my opinion. 🤷🏻‍♀️
