How ultra 🇬🇧 Twitter views languages:

Gaelic - nasty Fenian language spoken by nasty Fenians. Arrived from Ireland last week on the Stena line. Gaels don't exist but take ALL the money

English - Proud, regal, spoken by God. Brought here by staunch dinosaurs (Staunchosaurus).
Always worth reminding ourselves that these people are extremely loud online, but are probably pretty useless in real life. Most Scots aren't weirdos and attitudes to Gaelic are generally positive.
A lot of these folk are clearly playing out some sort of mad sectarian fantasy that has arse all to with Gaelic in their heads. Must be a dark place. Easier for them to comprehend than the complex and nuanced reality of where we find ourselves in 2021.
Should also add:

Scots - doesn't exist except for Burns day and the first five minutes of the New Year.
