So to start 2021 I want to talk about productions that blew you away. For any reason, at any time, it doesn’t matter, just that they transformed things in some way.

I’ll start. In 1994 I saw Teatro Buendia’s production of L’Innocence de Erendira at @GalwayIntArts in The Bish Theatre tent. In Spanish, no surtitles but the imagery sang and stays with me to this day #ilovetheatre
Disco Pigs with @mumstrokesactor and Cillian Murphy from @CorcadorcaCork blew my mind. Up close and personal, visceral experience #ilovetheatre
When @TeatrPolskiWroc brought Smycz to @axisBallymun during @dublinfringe 2007, Bartosz Porczyk’s performance was simply mindblowing #ilovetheatre
More recently Seán Holmes’ Plough and The Stars @AbbeyTheatre brought a new life to the play while simultaneously being more true to its themes (also @mumstrokesactor was simply out of this world as Bessie Burgess, might there be a theme here?) #ilovetheatre
I will never forget the experience of seeing CoMotion’s Frank Pig says hello, the characters of @SeanRocksARENA and the aching performance of David Gorry #ILoveTheatre
A day of Passion Machine in 1998. Paul Merciers genius exploded on the stage in a celebration of Dublin. The atmosphere, energy and passion still responds #ILoveTheatre
Barabbas’ Whiteheaded Boy in 1997 was a confluence of so much of what was happening in Ireland’s theatre at the time and @iaclown, Veronica Coburn, Mikel Murfi and Louis Lovett pointer us in the direction of what might be possible. Brilliant.. #ILoveTheatre
The visceral power of @gracedyas Heroin @THEATREclub everytime I experienced it grabbed me by the throat. #ilovetheatre
Very recently @TraBreaga production of Marina Carr’s On Raftery’s Hill @AbbeyTheatre was simply astounding. Top to Bottom. Horrifically beautiful #ilovetheatre
The minute Emmet Kirwan and @ianloydanderson burst into @BewleysCTheatre @dublinfringe with Dublin Old School I was grabbed by it. The joy, precision and passion of that work was so exciting @McMahonPhilly #Ilovetheatre
I will also never forget @Fishamble production of Noah and The Tower Flower in assoc with @axisBallymun with @marmurray and Darren Healy were mesmeric and Seán McLoughlin’s writing 
#ilovetheatre.
