I see a lot of discussion of sedition and how we need to charge the representatives with a crime. I AGREE. What concerns me is an immediate jump to "But Democrats will never do this." Okay, let's head some of this coming LACK OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF CIVICS off at the pass.
Unfortunately, we can't move to not seat representatives, which I wld have liked for us to do. Upon investigation, they must be officially charged with a crime first. So, 1. No. Nancy Pelosi cannot charge ppl with crimes, you misogynist fatheads.
The Speaker of the House has never had the power to charge people with crimes. Once they are charged with a crime, the Speaker can act. So, let's examine who would charge these representatives with a crime, and what would that crime be.
2. Sedition. Yes, this could be one charge. Interference in election processes could be another. Who would bring those charges?
3. Well, there is some possibility the AG of a state cld bring charges about interference in election processes, MAYBE. IT'S A LONG SHOT.
3. Well, there is some possibility the AG of a state cld bring charges about interference in election processes, MAYBE. IT'S A LONG SHOT.
But the most likely way to do it would be federally, with sedition. There's actually a strong case to charge these legislators with sedition or at least begin the investigative process to see exactly how bad they have been.
Who would do this? The DOJ. Let me repeat that. ONCE BIDEN ENTERS OFFICE, THE NEW DOJ COULD CHARGE THEM WITH SEDITION. Based upon proof of criminal activity, Pelosi cld refuse to seat those in the House. If we win GA, those in the Senate wld experience the same.
So let's get to it!, you say. Well ... it's not that quick a process, o mighty keyboard warrior! First, the DOJ must work with law enforcement to gather evidence. Once evidence is gathered, charges can be brought. Then, each legislator must experience their own trial.
There is an argument to be made that, once charged, they cld be unseated, but it's a bit thin. They really can't be unseated until trials are complete. Let me repeat that. They really can't be unseated easily until trials are complete.
So ... unfortunately, despite our deepest desires here, they will have to be seated right now. Let me repeat that in advance of "Pelosi, that weak willed neoliberal, is seating them! The two parties are the same!" baloney so often said by rich white guys.
Unless charges are brought against these legislators before they are seated, and really, are completed, they will have to be seated. If charges and convictions are brought later, they can be unseated.
Ok. Now, when can this happen?Well. It has to happen once Biden takes office.

So, the sequence of events is as follows:
1. Biden takes office.
2. If we've won GA, Biden immediately gets his appointees approved, no fights.
3. the new AG of the DOJ takes charge
4. A lot of DOJ employees start leaving or getting fired.
5. Because they are traitors

6. DOJ can file some preliminary stuff and start an investigation for sedition
7. Once smoke clears at DOJ, investigations can begin.
8. After investigations, they can be charged
9. They must be convicted and punished.
10. Remove them from their seats.

So. Here's what I anticipate from the misogynists among us: A drubbing of Nancy because they are seated and the fools saying this are too lazy or stupid to investigate OR just don't care because they are misogynists.
This is just me, in advance, putting these points out there.
