Watching #Casualty and I’m so fucking angry. Tory cronyism and arrogance has put us in the worst possible position- perhaps bar USA policy. ‘We are the mighty U.K.- we will be fine’ Brexit mentality of Britain being the king of the world made us ill prepared. We refused to /1
Learn lessons from other countries through the misapprehension that we were somehow superior. That we would somehow handle it, know more, solve things we were warned were not solveable but were preventable. We did NOTHING for so long. And now the dithering and deliberate chaos /2
Manifested by the government has desensitised everyone to the manslaughter of almost 80thousand people through lack of appropriate measures. Contracts reserved for mates. Eroding of public confidence as the most senior members of Government broke rules to no consequence /3
Staff forced to work with no protection in hospitals and schools, no extra budget. No extra help. Build a couple of fancy looking hospitals that could never be used because there are NO staff for them. It could have been spent on staff. Refusing offers of free PPE to fulfil /4
Contracts with Cummings mates. Advising staff in hospital NOT to wear masks. Counting individual gloves as items of PPE to boast about how great supplies were. Constant confusing policy - very deliberately so we’d all argue with each other about ‘common sense’ instead of /5
Shouting at the Government. LYING about transmission amongst children to keep schools open. Ordering school staff NOT to wear PPE for fear of scaring the kids. Threatening to sue terrified head teachers who- with no support- wanted to close schools to SAVE LIVES. I could go /6
And on and on. But we know all of this and we are powerless to the narcissistic self serving twonks in no10. So I’ll just watch #Casualty and sob and be angry. /end
