Let's be honest this cannot hold. If some Tier 4 LAs start advising schools to go for blended learning than all will have to. Cabt take them all to court - will end in u-turn for government and the attempt to turn it into teachers vs parents is going to backfire spectacularly.
You could perhaps pull this off if people had a reasonable opinion of government, or if you could turn aspects of the profession against each other (Heads vs teachers). But the first is long past and the second - for the first time in a long time there is a unified voice.
Cards on the table: I want to go back to work on Monday. I want to be open. But either we all do or none of us do. If the key argument is safety then there can be no other way, not really. And certainly not with exams on the horizon.
The government is managing this like it's still 2010 and the whole Blob thing still holds sway. It doesn't. Those presumptions have been torn down by 9 months of schools being a societal fix-all. Ultimately, folk trust schools more than they do the government.
We have provided meals, welfare checks ins, emotional support and practical advice, clothes, vouchers, safeguarding - and still worked hard to educate their kids. You could try the Blob thing but honestly beyond an already vocal subset it just won't work.
To be clear not for one moment suggesting Telegraph editorials don't have huge sway in the communities we serve
