I feel torn. Lots of WW2 fiction is set in Occupied Europe. I do love reading them, BUT, what I write is set on the American homefront, and Nebraska in particular. Am I wrong that readers prefer more glamorous settings, like New York City, London, Paris?
I have ideas for novels set in Washington D.C., but what I like about writing about Nebraska is that I know my setting intimately, & I take great pains to make sure I get everything correct. BUT...will people want to read about Nebraska during WW2?
Yes, write what you love - and I love WW2. But publishing *is* a business, & I need to be cognizant of that. So should I start moving toward books set in more "exotic" locales? What do you all think? I'd appreciate your input!
