Ima try to give as nuanced a take on this as I possibly can. Firstly, Endeavour is actually my favorite character in the series. I think the reason people do this is simple. Projection. Unfortunately, alot of people can relate to having an abusive parent in there household/ https://twitter.com/ThunderTheDevil/status/1345599921123155968
so they probably subconciously relate that onto the character, what he did is more common so the reaction towards him is more intense as apposed to what the other characters have done, its similar to how people overlook the fact Vegeta commited Genocide for decades/
because its something you just dont really process, its less realistic to you, not alot of people can relate to having murderes in there family so they just care less without realizing it.
Now, the main point that people miss is Endeavour is not looking for forgiveness/
Now, the main point that people miss is Endeavour is not looking for forgiveness/
his character arc is looking for atonement and trying to become a better human being. Whats done is done, its up to the audience, the individual reading, to decide whether they can forgive him or not so its alot more personal automatically./
It all stems from the point that hurt people hurt people at the end of the day and how your morals are, the league of villains are victims of society that have gone too far, are they worth saving is a central theme, endeavour is a publicly celebrated individual/
who mentally and physically abused his family for years, hes changed, which is great, rehabilitation is always the goal, and hes looking for atonement and im rooting for him, but the truth about him being public should lowkey be part of it
all in all this thread is too long and I went on a rant, moral ambiguoty is always played upon, I actually agree with OP, just adding more to why I feel someone would think opposite and why that connects to a central theme in the series
Endeavour goat, Twice goat, MVA best arc
