Misconceptions of Book Blogger: a thread.

(speaking for myself and any others who agree)

1. we don’t do it for the free books. we actually do because we love to read, review & recommend. we do it because it makes us happy.
and if I am ever lucky enough to receive a free book proof I usually always preorder/buy it if I love it. why? because it supports the authors, the bookshops, the publishers.

2. we don’t always love the books we read. I mean come on, there are thousands of books out there -
and we’re not going to love everything we read. and that’s okay. because we’re not reading for you or anyone else, we’re reading ourselves.

3. we’re allowed voice our critical opinions.

@TheGavGav7’s worst books of 2020 video for example, is a PERFECTLY okay thing to do.
4. most of us don’t get paid to review. we do it in our free time, usually beside a full time job/family. again, we review & promote because it’s something we love to do.

5. you have to have thousands & thousands of followers to be successful. Nope. Nope. Nope.
you’re successful when a follower reads & loves a book you recommended. you’re successful when one of your reviews makes an authors day. you’re successful when you write something you’re proud.

(ps. bloggers who have 1000+ followers now all started with 0 at the beginning.)
and if a publisher won’t consider you for their mailing list because your numbers aren’t high enough well it’s their loss.

6. blogging is quick & easy. no it really isn’t. we actually put a lot of time, passion & quality into everything we do. again, in our FREE time.
7. behind every book blog is a person. so sending passive aggressive & hurtful comments is just unnecessary. so don’t do it.

okay, I think that’s it. have a nice sunday everyone. 😊
