Every legal challenge has been laughed out of court, by Trump judges included. Trump's handpicked attorney general, Bill Barr, says there's NO evidence of mass voter fraud. State & local law enforcement say the same.
So it's all a scam, a fraud to overturn a legit election.
So it's all a scam, a fraud to overturn a legit election.
It doesn't matter if some have convinced themselves otherwise. A fantasy joined by tens of millions remains a fantasy; it cannot be transformed by faith into fact. The problem is that fantasies are not merely pleasant illusions to entertain or distract. They can also destroy.
They can destroy lives, they can destroy marriages and families, and they can destroy countries. In this case, this particular fantasy was created to serve a particular purpose: the justification of a coup, here in the United States.
Those perpetrating the fantasy, the coup, tell themselves that they are doing so to preserve the republic, to save the Constitution. To "preserve the republic" they are willing to toss out hundreds of millions of legit votes, based on nothing more than their own self-delusions.
It is hard to recognize a moment while you're in it, but this moment and others to come seem to present a challenge to our nation's future greater than any outside threat in our history, greater than the Axis Powers and Communism, and equal to that of the U.S. Civil War.
The Civil War did not end with Lee's surrender at Appomattox. It echoed on for decades, into our own era. So too will this. A substantial number of our fellow citizens have decided that power resides not with those who win elections, but with those who seize it. That cannot be.
