In February 2019, I went onto @LeBatardShow and did an awful Sean Connery impersonation. I mean really bad. Every time I went on with Dan and Stu and the guys, I deeply feared bombing because they’re all so damn funny. So I scrambled. Panicked. I do other impersonations, I said.
After that segment, my wife said, “What was that?” I told her I’d done an entire bit with LeBatard in my Elmo voice. She asked if I was going to get fired. I told her that I hoped not. Then she asked a question people around the country have asked for years: “Who’s LeBatard?”
I heard from more people that day than I think I have any day in my two years at ESPN. Friends I hadn’t talked with in years. Colleagues I hadn’t met. And that, to me, is the power of @LeBatardShow: It brings out the best in its guests and in the process brings people together
