A Realistic January 2021 Transfer Window -
It’s safe to say Daniel Levy is not keen on spending a lot of money in the transfer windows, even more with the THS fundings and the terrible Covid situation. However, it was a surprise to see Mourinho being backed last summer with a 9/10 window and some bargains like Hojbjerg
Most of the signings turned out to shine, so the results improved drastically from last season. Spurs had a great start, thanks to deadly and fast counterattacks, but they shown some limits when they play low-block teams : they can’t create and they concede late equalizers
So how can Spurs resolve those problems ?

The fanbase wants an Attacking Midfielder and a Pacey, strong Center back. Could we see some new blood at N17 ?
Sabitzer is the fanbase favorite, obviously he is the most complete player to have been linked with Spurs. But I personally think he won’t be doable this winter. Why? Leipzig are still in the Bundesliga race, and the CL race. They won’t let their captain go now, and not for cheap
Sabitzer’s value is around £40M, It’s still a bargain for a player of his quality but still too much for Spurs. Sabitzer won’t sign if there is no departure. The most likely to go is Dele, but the Lo Celso injury (he will miss all January fixtures) may force the club to keep him
Desperate for a creative midfielder, the fanbase must remember that Jose Mourinho stated he needed a backup for our midfield general, Hojbjerg. As a defensive midfielder, Yves Bissouma is shining for Brighton, but his side is very disappointing and just above the relegation zone
In my opinion he would be a perfect pick for Spurs, either as an Hojbjerg back up, or as a Sissoko’s replacement : both are good at holding the ball and taking it up on the pitch. He’s also been playing PL football for the last 3 years already.
Bissouma is valued at around £10M, but he could be even cheaper at the end of the season if Brighton are relegated, and it’s likely they will. So it’s worth to wait the summer window and focus on the two priorities : the CB and the Attacking midfielder
So there is my unpopular choice, yes, Eriksen. I can’t stand him since he forced his way, but is he a bad guy ? Does he deserve to rot on Inter’s bench ? Was he wrong to try something else after winning nothing in 5 years ?
Eriksen is on the transfer list because he won’t ever fit there. Then let’s just bring him home. Take him for free, on a loan until the end of season. A lot of players have floped somewhere and came back to their club. It’s not a bad idea. 4 points :
1- Eriksen knows the League, and he knows the club. He won’t need a lot of time to adapt, like most of the Fat Lampard’s flops at Chelsea.
2- He hasn’t lost his quality. His last months at Spurs were to force a move, but if he got his mind right, he will come back. Spurs need his creative qualities as much as his set pieces ability to unlock games much more easier.
3- Here’s the big point. The Mind. He knows he cannot rot in Milan forever. He will be very grateful to find some time in a club that won’t forget what he did. He will listen to Mourinho, even if he’s not a 1st team player. If he wants trophies so much, he must obey to the master
4- The other opportunities. If Levy manages to get Eriksen for free on loan, Spurs can keep money to invest on Sabitzer and Bissouma in the summer thanks to the money made by the Top 4 and trophies like Europa League. Meanwhile, Spurs could get a ‘’cheap’’ CB this winter
And here is Nikola Milenkovic, the 1m95 / 6’’4’ beast from Fiorentina. He’s been linked with Spurs, he’s good in the air so it’s great for Spurs problems on set pieces, and he’s valued at £25M
So Tottenham could get 2 players this winter for a fee of £25M, thanks to a Levy investment or the sell of players that have understandably been put on the transfers list like Gazzaniga and Sanchez. This is a bargain and it will improve the squad to get it’s long waited trophy
- THE END
