My Top 10 Favorite Projects of 2020, A Thread

10. Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon - Pop Smoke 9/10

Sadly one of the many posthumously released albums we had to receive in 2020. Pop Smoke’s team was able to bring together a crop of incredible drill, trap, and even somewhat rnb influenced tracks that really hit.

Later on the album also received a deluxe that isn’t on the same tier but had some incredible highlights.

9. Whole Lotta Red - Playboi Carti 9/10

Definitely the most polarizing album we received in 2020, but I hole the opinion that this is amazing. The production and Carti’s delivery all over this thing is infectious and incredible.

Favorite Track: Stop Breathing

8. SAVAGME MODE II - 21 Savage & Metro Boomin 9/10

Savage and Metro continue to prove they are the best rapper/producer duo in music. They go 13/13 with songs with ease. Metro brings what I would say is his best crop of production ever and 21 brings his best crop of flows and-

performances in his career. This is in my opinion the artist opus of both artists up to this point. They really bring out the best in each other.

7. No Pressure - Logic 9/10

What a way to retire. This may be a hot take but after almost a decade in the game Logic leaves the game with his best crop of songs ever. The production, the rapping, the everything about this made me fall in love with it instantly.

Least Favorite Track: 5 Hooks

6. Limbo - Aminé 9/10

This and No Pressure could co very interchangeably at this spot but ultimately I decided to go with the project I went back to more. An amazing crop of bangers and vibes with many different styles this is my favorite crop of Aminé songs yet. The charisma-

and personality Aminé has is addicting and I can never get enough. He wears his influences on his sleeves with references to Ye and Hov which I love.

5. The New Abnormal - The Strokes 9/10

Yknow what fuck it this is my favorite Strokes album. From day one I have been falling more and more in love with this thing. Every track brings everything I adore about this band. And I would argue Julian Casablancas’ vocals are the best-

they have ever been on here. So beautiful and in a weird way nostalgic for some reason.

Favorite Track: The Adults Are Talking/Ode To The Mets
Least Fav Track: Why Are Sundays So Depressing

4. EP! - JPEGMAFIA 9/10

I adore this EP so much. With just 9 tracks and a 26 minute run time this track represents everything I love about Peggy’s music. From the bangers BALD! and COVERED IN MONEY! to the rnb influenced BODYGUARD! this never has a dull moment, besides Tommy

I’d also like to highlight SUPER TUESDAY! a repurposed freestyle that shines in this studio version. The first verse remains one of Peglord’s best.

3. Nectar - Joji 9/10

As someone who has been a big fan of Joji since he released BALLADS 1 in 2018 this was exactly what I could ask for in a sophomore release. Joji tries many different styles and leagues and succeeds in almost every single one greatly. In 18 tracks there are-

few underwhelming moments although some tracks could be cut. I used to have it at a 10 and it’s still very close.

Least Favorite Track: High Hopes

2. Circles - Mac Miller 9/10

Sadly this is the second posthumous release on this list. This is one of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard. The depressing lyrics that sound like Mac talking to us from heaven, the amazing production that feels like floating on a cloud-

this project never ceases to amaze. The closest body of work on this list to a 10 that’s not a 10, I even used to have it at a 10.

Least Favorite Track: I Can See

1. After Hours - The Weeknd 10/10

Perfection in musical form. I don’t have enough amazing things to say about this album that people haven’t already said. The retro, space, almost even cloudy production assisted by people such as Metro Boomin and Abel himself. The vocals which-

are his best since Trilogy or Kiss Land. The aesthetic that he put on for a year to support this album is one of my favorite things of 2020. I could ramble on but there’s no point to get the idea.
