So this is extremely misleading. I really want everyone to know there is lots of science to say that vegan and vegetarian diets are perfectly nutritional, often cheaper and significantly better for the environment. Don't buy into this propaganda. #VegansEatBalanced #Veganuary
This one has lots of info... World Resources Report by Searchinger et al (2019) Ruminant livestock use two-thirds of global agricultural land and contribute roughly half of agriculture’s production-related emissions while at more providing only 3% of calories and 12% of protein.
Searchinger (cont) Closing the land and GHG mitigation gaps requires that, by 2050, the 20 percent of the world’s population who would otherwise be high ruminant-meat consumers reduce their average consumption by 40 percent relative to their consumption in 2010.
cont while meat does contain all essential amino acids so does soy, quinoa and others vegan foods. Also it is not difficult to acquire the required EAAs just by combining different plant-based foods. Rice and beans or peanut butter and bread. Thats right A PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICH!
And while meat also contains high levels of other essential micronutrients, including iron, A and B vitamins, and zinc, even a diverse diet based entirely on plants can provide an adequate supply of micronutrients. still Searchinger et al (2019)

oh and wait. you thought that whole "they turn non-edible food into edible food" thing was a good point. its not. for a start, animals produce a lot of non edible tissue and waste lots of energy through metabolic processes Moriconi, E. (2001).
but also animals eat a lot of food that we can eat. going back to Searchinger et al (2019) they have a nice graph that shows that per calorie meat uses much more CROPLAND, not pasture but cropland, that any plant based alternatives https://agritrop.cirad.fr/593176/1/WRR_Food_Full_Report_0.pdf
and we specifically import human crops from developing countries to feed animals for meat. like in the EU 50% of imported grains to the EU in 2008 were for animal feed (Witzke and Noleppa, 2010) http://np-net.pbworks.com/f/Von_Witske+(2010)+EU+agri_prod_trade.pdf
and the fact that we feed them human food can worsen food insecurity like in China. having reached a limit on how much grain the country is able to produce human and animal consumption must compete for food. This increases the price leaving people hungry (Li and Lin, 2014).

I do not want to tell everyone they must go vegan but I will not stand for this sort of mis-information. They know they are lying. They know their industry is damaging the environment. people should reduce meat in their diet where possible.
I am especially angry that I saw this advert on @All4 @Channel4 is there no one who fact checks adverts for damaging mis-information. If @GreenpeaceUK got their palm oil advert banned this deserves to be banned too. @ASA_UK
