Everyone rates Manchester City midfielder Rodri as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world but do y'all know how humble and down to earth person he is?
During his breakthrough season at Villarreal he lived in a shared space in his University (Universidad de Castellon),he balanced his studies of business and economics with his football career and never missed a single lecture in his University according to his friend Valentin.
Even after his transfer to Atletico he didn't stop attending University. He used to travel everyday back and forth from Castellon to Madrid. His friends in University were baffled how he was a pro-footballer and was still living with them in University
His friends in University encouraged him to buy a fancy sports car but he wasn't interested, instead he used a second hand Opel Corsa to travel to Madrid. This was the case until Atletico Madrid advised him to buy a new car because they were concerned about his safety.
Rodri's life just isn't about football and money isn't his motivation. Football always came second in his life as he considered it as a "lottery". He still continues to pursue studies , presumably doing a distance course from Manchester.
