Tiny thread on how to do social media if you are a small business - especially in the craft sector 🧶
1. Everybody can see what you are doing.

Small account? 23 followers? Remember the entire internet can see your tweets, replies & likes.

EX: Don't use your business account for your BTS fan activity unless yr love for Jimin is a big part of yr work.
2. Don't be a robot.

Social media is .. social. If you just tweet links to your business, that's dull and robotic.

EX: Mix yr shop links with other activity. If you sell embroidery kits of squirrels, tweet about woodlands & interact with .. er .. squirrel accounts.
3. Be consistent

Don't drop 35 tweets in one go, three months apart. A little every now and then goes a long way.

EX: if you are not a heavy SM user, set up scheduled tweets and then dip in to be social when you can.
4. Know your audience

In other words, maybe don't mix your heritage lace knitting audience with your OnlyFans audience. Separate accounts - although a slight overlap if you knit yrself Victorian undies. You know.
5. Be professional

If you are having a bad day, log off yr business account instead of posting 128 rants about your ex. Unless you can make them relevant to your squirrel embroidery kits. Maybe pivot to "squirrels destroying the ex's PS5" embroidery & make it a feature.
6. Everybody's A Good Egg

This is a big point. Social media is filled with bots and trolls, but really everybody is a good egg. Be friendly and listen to what's going on. Your chosen industry is also a community and it's really important not to lose sight of this.
7. Set up multiple accounts

Set up both a business account and a personal account. Lines can blur frequently, but it helps you keeping a work/life balance. You can not think you'll need that but you will.
