In 2020 primary schools had to return application forms for post-primary to @Ed_Authority by Feb 5 so they had time to run the process and inform parents of outcomes by May 30. Presumably that entire process will be up-ended now, whether or not a single test runs on Feb 27?
And I guess it’s possible parents may be asked to make their preferences without knowing whether some schools will use a single test result, or the alternative criteria they published in case tests weren’t run.
And since the grammar schools all considered and published alternative criteria in case tests weren’t run, why are they now so reluctant to use them? Do they think their own criteria will give them the ‘wrong’ result?
Is it really possible we could have a situation where the *only exam* to run in Northern Ireland is a single, one-shot, unofficial 11+ test?
