Not to be a person who complains about everything, but something about the yas queening of Stacey Abrams isn’t sitting right with me. I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something off
To be clear: Stacey Abrams did amazing important work. But there’s something that feels....off about how Liberals are treating her. I haven’t thought it through, but there’s something that feels vaguely patronizing/flippant/“Black women will save us” that I don’t like.
Also she was not the only organizer and she consistently tries to shine a light on the other activists. But people are content with stopping at Stacey because they aren’t truly trying to engage with what the efforts were. So talking about Stacey is enough for show.
Idk I’m not like upset or offended. It just ain’t sitting exactly right with my spirit

ANYWAY...here’s Stacey talking about both the importance of her work and why the focus must be on the work and not completely on her + describing infrastructure + shouting out other organizers https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thecut.com/amp/2020/11/stacey-abrams-on-flipping-georgia-blue.html
Here’s the organizations Stacey shouted out after the November election: https://twitter.com/staceyabrams/status/1324687447259779072
Some more information about some of their organizers in this article: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.refinery29.com/amp/en-us/2020/12/10243322/georgia-runoff-senate-races-women-organizers
And finally: Absolutely give Stacey her things!!!! But reducing the movement to one person minimizes the amount of work there is to be done. And if we believe there isn’t much work, then we don’t have to get involved.
