‘Freedom is not doing the things that you are inclined to do. It is reflecting upon what you ought to do, as your unrepeatable self, and just occasionally taking a risk and doing that thing.’ - Timothy Snyder in his Introduction to The Power of the Powerless by Václav Havel. 1/
This is our last copy of The Power of the Powerless, the classic political manifesto written by by ex-Czech president Václav Havel. It is on its way out the door, being given as a gift to someone. 2/
We will continue to stock this book and others like it. We will continue to openly sell them to those who wish to read them. And we will continue to call out the bad, evil, mendacious, tyrannical acts of those who fear these books and the ideas they contain. 3/
In short we will strive to live the kind of life that Havel described in his manifesto as one that can lead to meaningful political, systemic change: a ‘life within the truth’. 4/
