I've been biting my tongue about this, but I feel it needs to be said.

Fursuit families are cliques. By literal definition of a clique. To treat it as anything else is simply wrong. You're not a "found family", you're a clique. Full fucking stop.
"a small group of people, with shared interests or other features in common, who spend time together AND DO NOT READILY ALLOW OTHERS TO READILY JOIN THEM."

To be part of a fursuit family, you need to have a specific fursuit. There's a (v pricy) barrier for entry. It's a clique.
The broader furry community isn't a clique, because anyone can join. They don't need a fursuit. They don't need art. They don't need money of any kind. You wanna be a furry? Welcome.

You wanna be part of the Roofur family? Go pay Roofur. Oh he's not open? Tough shit, get lost.
So why do we do it? Because humans will packbond over literally anything, one. But more importantly, it's because it's silly stupid fun! It should NOT be taken seriously at all! I've made some friends because we share a fursuit makers, but I don't attribute my friendship to that!
So I'm sorry #CactusCrew people, but you failed the litmus test here. I understand what you're reasoning was: wanting to retain the memory of how you all became friends. But that's incredibly flawed reasoning, because you've actually made your family even MORE of a clique.
Because now, if you want to join the #CactusCrew, who by very nature of existing is telling you to NOT commission DHC, you only have one option. Buy a preowned DHC from a third party. Good fucking luck finding one sized for you, and kick rocks if you want one of your sona.
I'm not trying to talk down to anyone here, because again, I do understand the initial kneejerk reaction of seeing just how deep DHC dug their heels in and feeling like you've lost credibility, or even losing a connection with the other suiters that feel betrayed.
But I'm simply asking you to consider the the entire venture of trying to rebrand your fursuit family clique was always doomed to fail, because right out of the gate, you took something a stupidly silly as a fursuit family waaaaaay too seriously.
But it's okay, we all get caught up in the moment. I'm happy that a significant amount of people are realizing that the #CactusCrew tag was a failure, and that in the end...

Friends...

It's really not that big of a deal that you can't have a packbond over your carpet maker.
