I’ve never been overly optimistic and I might be wrong, but I firmly believe the majority of Americans (people, actually) have decent hearts. They are impacted and molded by the actions and words of those around them. 1/
Most of us want the same things for us and our families and loved ones: safety, food, shelter, peace of mind, etc. etc. We clearly have vastly different ideas on how to get there. 2/
Much like I hoped (and was at least somewhat correct on) that the abhorrent reaction by many to events like the death of RBG would further awaken and align those who have good hearts, I have similar optimism after today’s unbelievably tragic events. 3/
How can anyone be “on the fence”
or undecided any longer? How can anyone not participate in their communities or not try to make the world a better place after what we’ve seen today? 4/
Let the extremists be extreme. Many are too far gone. Focus instead on those who can be saved or brought to the light. They SURELY many will snap out of it after what we’ve seen today 5/
So ... PLEASE get involved. Write letters. Volunteer. Pick up litter. Hold doors for people. Give strangers compliments. Hug your spouse. Foster a dog. Review a small biz. Do things for people that might not have an immediate benefit to you. It all comes back around. /6
Please just try to make the world at least a little better even if none of us can make it all better. I’m not religious but I remember a lot of the good (and some of the bad) I was taught after 20 years of Christianity. Above all, LOVE THY NEIGHBOR /7
