With the US turning into a madhouse,
Russia being stuck in a cold-war expansionist mindset,
and China being a dystopic nightmare:

Only a socialist-democratic united Europe can be a working alternative model. 1/n
This means neo-liberalism needs to take a step back.

Unchecked big-corp control of whole markets needs to be consciously broken up and brought back to a real marketplace of small independent actors, „Mittelständische Unternehmen“.

VC needs to get the fuck out of Europe.
This means the countryside needs to be integrated back into the countries (guess what, no country without countryside).

Things need to be made *less* effective first (e.g. splitting up cities into lesser population arias) before they get *more* effective due to resiliency. 3/n
The left-behind countryside is proving the biggest problem for democracies (see: Front National, AfD), creating fertile ground for nazist and fascist ideas to spread their poison.

A monetary approach like UBI might be a good first measure, but just giving people money 4/n
… is not gonna solve the problem of them feeling left out and underappreciated.

People need to feel that they are part of something greater than themselves, that there are good values and morals they can work towards. 5/n
This is incedentally what Populism (rally behind shared identity and hate for the other), Communism (rally behind the concept of a worker state and equal outcomes) and Fascism (rally behind a leader who will turn everything good after a war or two) are very good at. 6/n
So socialist democracy needs an image overhaul. It needs to show what it has achieved, contrast it against the failures of other modes, present it to the people and then follow through on expanding the concept and finding back to the original values. 7/n
(I might continue this later, I definitely have a few more thoughts)
