My RB1: A thread

I am not an NFL Scout, nor do I pretend to be

Scouting for fantasy is different, for fantasy purposes there are 6 traits that matter most in my opinion, because they directly translate to fantasy points

Travis Etienne hits all 6 in spades
The first trait that you must have is elusiveness, the potential for an RB1 directly correlates with your ability to make people miss

10 of the top 12 RBs in fantasy this year finished top 18 in PFF elusive rating

Rule number 1 of RB highlights: make 3 guys miss minimum
The second must have trait is yards after contact, in 2019 Etienne earned at least 5 yards after contact on a whopping 31% of his runs (CFB average 17%) per PFF

Etienne Breaks 3 tackles in this clip, the first being a clean angle, which resulted in an impressive 5 yard gain
The third and maybe the most important trait is receiving ability

whether it's Route running, natural hands, turning upfield after the catch or raw production Etienne has it all

Etienne's 60 targets in 2020 was 6 more than CEH (54) received his final year at LSU, in only 12 GP
The fourth trait is ability/willingness to protect

Etienne, as a senior had plenty of reps in pass pro, especially playing with a bad O-line alongside a superstar QB

Can't score fantasy points if you're taken off the field

This affected CEH, Gibson & Akers directly in 2020
The fifth trait is what matters most if you play in standard leagues, but it is still important in PPR

Can you put points on the board in the RedZone/on the Goal line

This is an area of his game that actually inspires my comparison for Etienne (Spoiler)
The final trait is not exactly a requirement because we have seen plenty of elite fantasy RBs who don't have it like Le'Veon Bell

But if you have elite speed, you have the ability to take a play 90 yards to the house which = winning a week in fantasy

Etienne has 4.3 Juice
That comparison I teased earlier is Aaron Jones

Both guys have the RB1 Traits package in spades, both guys run similarly and are elite in the same areas
