I’m so glad that the interviewer pushed Mohler here but Mohler’s answers are vexing. He seems to keep blaming a lamentable “binary” that essentially forced him to vote the way he did like he had no other choice. He also refuses to admit he got it wrong. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/religion/article/Evangelical-leader-says-he-s-horrified-by-chaos-15851868.php
He may be depending on his rhetorical skills but we’re not dumb. To say you couldn’t have known what was going to happen now (even though tons of black Christians warned him) is ridiculous. The whole “how could I have known it would end up like this?!” Argument doesn’t work.
And I’m especially frustrated with is continual blaming of the political binary as a type of “what other choice did I have?!” Argument. The very binary you seem to be lamenting is the very binary that you are contributing to via this lesser of two evils party fallacy.
I feel like this is insulting our intelligence.
