Client outreach strategy (thread)
This is a continuation of the idea of starting a web agency for balloon ride companies. https://twitter.com/hyattcook/status/1347018785442717699
An obvious and important step in the web agency process is finding clients.

Let me lay out my strategy.
It is heavily inspired by @paitdigital's YouTube video on client outreach (it's a shame he is not active on Twitter).

The basic idea is this:

- Email them a short @loom video making recommendations for their site
- Follow up with a call if they watch but don't reply
Why I love this idea:

1. It is personal. They get to see a real person talking intimately about their website and how it can improve

2. It cuts through the noise. Which are you going to respond to? A sales-y cold call/email or some personable dude who made a video about you?
Further inspiration came from @thedulab's advice on executing video DM's.

Energy and authenticity are way more important than a perfect mic, setting, backdrop, etc.

Although this is not a DM per-say, the advice still holds true https://twitter.com/thedulab/status/1296194080653729792
Each video takes about 5 minutes to make.

My goal is to send 5 a day.

At a 3% conversion rate, that's 4.5 new clients every month (more than enough for a currently 1 man team)
Further, once a handful of projects go well, active outreach will be overkill. Word of mouth will provide all the clients needed.

Especially in such a niche industry as hot air balloon rides.
List of necessities before getting started:

1. A list of companies to reach out to

2. A script/plan for what to say in the video

3. A script/plan for what to say in the email
It wasn't hard to compile a list.

99% of balloon ride sites range from "meh" to criminally atrocious.

Basically, every balloon ride company can be targeted for our services lol
Here is the current script I'm using for what to say in the videos.

Note how:
- I offer value without asking for anything in return
- Make the assumption they have a web team already
Here's an example of a video I sent tonight using the script https://www.loom.com/share/c707557a05ab404d8d0146e356f5751d
Here is the current template I am using for the email.

Note how I:
- Use a vague subject line
- Keep it short and casual
The plan is to tweak both scripts based on the results I achieve.
Note how once they watch the video, a call to them is no longer "cold".

They feel like they know you, which makes selling a lot easier.
