Today’s #JobsReport was not good. While the Black-White unemployment gap narrowed, it wasn’t for good reasons and we will see why with labor force participation and EPOP. (1/5)
Note: Black male unemployment is still in double digits and basically exceeds that of people with less than a high school. [h/t: @WSpriggs] (2/5)
There weren’t large changes in EPOP or LFPR, but it fell for African Americans and rose for Whites.

Given the state of the pandemic this report shows how the lack of policy has adversely impact the labor market. EPOP has plateaued since October. (3/5)
Gaps across race & gender continue to persist as job loss in leisure & hospitality and local government disproportionately harm women of color.

See @mikemadowitz, @AnnalynKurtz, & @WendyEdelberg for insightful analysis of womens’ labor market outcomes. (4/5)
The takeaway from this #JobsReport is that fiscal policy that is significant & substantial in necessary right now.

We can worry about targeting once the virus is eradicated & the economic rescue it over, but now we need to bring all our tools to bear. (/end)
