this is a good thread. and i know many people who are well off and total bigots, including people who aren’t even trump supporters. sometimes they’re even left leaning. it’s despicable that these same folks rag on lower class citizens in the rural regions of the south, when-
they know full well that bigotry is determined by many factors and being poor usually isn’t one of them. i know so many people in my area who are sweet and actively trying to fight their biases, and not just deflecting from their own issues like these rich assholes tend to do.
i’m not saying the south is perfect: again, any area is gonna be full of complete and total monsters. but please don’t write us all off as that, especially when there are huuuge minority populations here that are silenced and suppressed.
anyway that’s just my thoughts on the matter. i can’t stand others acting like the south consists only of terrible people, when that is an unhelpful and unhealthy take.
