If you don't interrogate what you want, the prospect of charging up your intentions with ritual power seems like it carries a huge monkey's paw risk.
So for the love of Hermes, divine before you cast. Not so much to determine if your working will turn out well, but whether or not something has hijacked your desire and is just using you.
