you may be vaguely aware of them bc of the one incident of planes flying over ny dispersing banners like this. most of the posts i see abt it are kind of puzzled in an amused way. tbh it was funny! bc no one knows who tf they are, just trolls! it is not a joke to me.
this online movement is run by exiled chinese billionaire gwg (use google, i won't be trolled) & (needs no introduction) st*ve b*nn*n, & in their manifesto seeks to take down the ccp. hm. well they've done very little on that front.
btw none of what i'm gonna say is based on official research; tbh, there's very little in american media bc no one takes it srsly, it's just some small, stupid, non-legitimate venture by some rando chinese person \\o/however, i am going to describe everything i have heard, from--
a family member who is a self proclaimed 战友(comrade) in the movement. thru gwg's ventures in a false news org, a "fashion" website, etc, they carry a pro-trump, radically conspirational message, fueling the extreme

i absolutely agree that the ccp has an awful, horror-filled, & bloody history in china, that they don't serve the chinese people, that they don't stand for a more welcoming, safe world for everyone. BUT U DON'T TAKE A PERFECTLY RATIONAL & LOGICAL THOUGHT LIKE THAT &
TURN IT INTO A SCARE CAMPAIGN IN THE US/AUS/UK THAT EQUATES EVERYTHING FROM BIPOC ADVOCACY, LGBTQ+ RIGHTS, RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, & PROGRESSIVE POLICY TO CCP CONTROL. DO NOT VILLAINIZE THESE ISSUES BC U THINK ONLY YOUR TRAUMA IS ALLOWED, BC U ARE BIGOTED & CLOSE-MINDED.
chinese diaspora members, again, this is for you. i hope you got smth from it, and i hope it helps you stay aware. i wanted to share bc i haven't seen a lot of people talk abt it, or if they do it seems trivial. i'm here to say it's not. be scared. my family believes this. they--
are putting money into this. they are devoting their lives to hatred & i feel like i'm speaking to a growing iceberg when i talk to them, when i justify why i still love them, when i saw this in may and didn't think it was harmful. pls. just pls. don't let this happen.
ik this thread is a mess/not very informative or organized, or maybe it's not a big deal to u bc u think there are worse issues/groups rn. but this one affects me personally. this one has a scope that is growing by day.
this one hurts my community. i jst had to say smth. for me, for other chinese ppl in situations like me. it's easy to hope it's nothing, that it doesn't have an effect in the grand scheme of things, esp if it's coming from older family. it does. it does so pls speak abt it.
