THREAD | Kuomba Msaada is an Art, this how you master the art. I’m sharing this thread in Swanglish lengo langu hasa wengi tupate kujifunza. Vijana wengi wa KiTanzania hatujui namna ya kuomba msaada na tukinyimwa tunalalamika. I want to share what I have learned over the years.
First, sisi wote ni binadamu hakuna aliyekamilika na tunategemeana. Occasionally, kila mtu anahitaji msaada; wa kimawazo, kifedha, connections, deals, etc The issue is how do you ask for help matters a lot. I will share these important tips.
Binafsi nimepata misaada mingi kutoka kwa watu wengi hapa Twitter through their DMs. Na mambo mengi yamefunguka sometimes by even talking to people we have never met.
Be Specific | Watu wanamambo mengi na kila mtu anapriority zake. Ukiwa unaomba msaada akilisha uko very specific on what you want —unataka nini, why —kwanini, when—wakati gani and what is the level of commitment that you expect from the person.
Skin In The Game | Fanya homework yako at least unapomuomba mtu msaada wewe mwenyewe uwe ushafanya kitu fulani. For example | unamuomba @GillsaInt awe mentor wako kwenye Digital Marketing halafu wewe ata definition ya DM hujui. Make it easy kusaidiwa.
It’s not an entitlement | Msaada mtu ana haki ya kukubali au kukataa. Sisi wenyewe tunapigwa email za “unfortunately” nyingi tu. It’s nothing personal mtu amehamua ana jambo lingine au ana mtu mwingine ameamua kumsaidia au amekataa tu. Ndio maisha.
Don’t stalk | Please don’t harass it doesn’t help. Kumtumia mtu ma messages kibao DM—unapiga simu kama mshkaji kachukua figo zako haisaidii. It’s unprofessional na mtu badala ya kukusaidia atakuchukia.
Go straight to the point | don’t bush around

You | Mambo
Helper | Poa

You | Kwema
Helper| Shwari

You | Uko Poa Lakini
Helper | Mzuka

You | Upo Mzee
...

This is insane, nobody can keep up with this. Sema unataka nini? People don’t have all day for you.
So next time you ask for help or support;

1. Do your homework.
2. Make yourself interesting.
3. Be specific on what you want.
4. Stop harassing, be patient.
5. If doesn’t turn out well. We jimuvuzishe tafuta msaada kwingine.
Don’t do this on Twitter alone. Do it in real life also. This is what you do to maintain a consigliere, a Godfather, a mentor, a sponsor, etc. Whatever you call them. The most valuable commodity to them is time and you being interesting to talk to or work with.
