We have yet to do a sustained and rigorous reckoning with the Young, Restless and Reformed movement, especially in its racial dimensions. It had a whole bunch of us young Black men low-key looking down on the Black church and thinking all the good theology came out of Europe.

This is not a conversation that necessarily needs to be had in public. Not everything is for everybody. I bring it up because some of us still have a lot of de-colonizing and reflecting to do. We'd be wrong to think we're done with that work.

We've all got a testimony. Yours may be different than mine. That's fine. I may not be where I should be, but you don't know where I've been. I've been brought a mighty long way.
