Home care advice continues to be bizarrely difficult to find, which is…honestly inexcusable, given the current case and hosp numbers we're seeing and the state of our healthcare systems. Threads like this are great *and* shouldn't be needed. https://twitter.com/VonAnneli/status/1338930142001807360
Current CDC advice is "Take care of yourself. Get rest and stay hydrated. Take over-the-counter medicines, such as acetaminophen, to help you feel better." + detailed disinfection advice and instruction to get advice from your doctor. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/steps-when-sick.html
Can we be real about how many people in the US don't have easy/any access to a doctor? How much time primary care providers have to address detailed questions from someone who is sick at home?
We're averaging 240k new cases a day in the US. Even if you plenty of them have mild or no symptoms, that is A LOT OF SICK PEOPLE who could use advice and support. It's January.
I mean I understand the political reason why we don't give people the financial support required to make lockdowns work. I don't understand why our federal public health comms are almost entirely devoid of any evidence that actual sick people are considered important.
I AM TRYING VERY HARD TO STAY IN MY LANE but honestly what the fuck
