Ok. Short thread. I'm going to be open and vulnerable here: while my gut is telling me to refer to the white nationalist fascists and insurrectionists as "terrorists" as we know their explicit aim was to terrorize, I'm getting good feedback on why that's counterproductive. 1/

I will admit the impulse for me to call these violent insurrectionists "terrorists" has to do with how so, so many innocent Black and brown people worldwide are labeled as such when they have had nothing to do with it whatsoever. The bolstering of that led to these 4/
counterproductive and harmful laws and regulations. If we refer to these violent white supremacist insurrectionists as such, Black and brown communities could pay more of the price. I'm open to feedback and would love to hear from other Black and brown people I know. 5/5
