I’ll be honest, I’m struggling a bit with @RepKinzinger.

First, I absolutely acknowledge that recently among Republicans Adam has been *beyond* better.

But it’s also appropriate to acknowledge that what Adam has said & done shouldn’t be courageous — it should be common ...
It’s good for folks to acknowledge when leaders lead well.

It’s also good to remember a leader’s record runs longer than a few weeks or months ...

@repkinzinger was *really good* on @colbertlateshow this week during his interview with @StephenAtHome:
But just a year ago on @colbertlateshow, when asked by @StephenAtHome if he trusted President Trump, @RepKinzinger said he did — because he’d gotten to know the President, met with him in the Oval Office & “gotten to know his heart”.
Then hours before the storming of the capitol @repkinzinger reminded folks he trusted Trump enough to vote for him in Nov. Presumably to keep his base happy & ambitions alive, he tossed in “socialist agenda” rhetoric & reminded folks he doesn’t want Democrats running the country.
So, yes, @RepKinzinger has stood out among his Republican colleagues. I respect him for it. It should be appreciated by Americans of all political persuasions who love our Country.

But let’s not crown him anything for it just yet — including Governor of Illinois.

As a brief follow-up, there are some interesting takes on @RepKinzinger's staff asking for 7 minutes from the Democrats during the impeachment proceedings, thinking they'd be offered 5, and when they were offered 1 Adam said "nevermind" ... https://twitter.com/jaketapper/status/1349534057961566208?s=20
Should the Democrats have offered more of their limited time to @RepKinzinger?

Perhaps.

Should he have taken the minute he was offered?

Probably.

More important questions:
Would it have made a difference?
What was the point?
The reality is what occurred on the floor was performance.

The decisions were made before any reps entered the chamber.

The difference @RepKinzinger could have made with colleagues would have happened prior to taking the mic, before that moment, and outside that room.
. @RepKinzinger has been clear & consistent in his message (which is deserving of appreciation & attention). He has used his platform to communicate his position.

He didn't need the Democrats' platform to make that message known — to the public or his colleagues.
And let's not forget that this is what @RepKinzinger said about those whose time he wanted to take and platform he wanted to use just one week ago:
By all means, give @RepKinzinger the respect he deserves & appreciation he has earned.

But you don't have to give him your platform, your time, or your mic for him to read his remarks or convince his colleagues — who have made their position clear.
