The whole Taste of Sicily thing would actually make a really great in-depth story if someone was around to write it. Small local restaurant in Palmyra PA decides to defy the governors orders to shutdown during the first wave of COVID.
In doing so they gain full support of their GOP commissioner, district attorney, two PA state reps, their PA state senator, and @RepMeuser. With the support of locally elected leaders they go on to build a following of over 5,000 people on Facebook.
They form a new organization E.A.T. and continue to encourage other businesses all across the state to follow their footsteps to defy any new COVID orders from Gov Wolf. They also gain the attention of @SenMastriano while speaking at events across the state.
They continue to use social media to build their following with daily live videos and posts. They frequently use transphobia. They encourage all of their followers to defy mask orders. They continue to build and sustain relationships with locally elected leaders.
They begin to intertwine their religious beliefs with politics. Through their radicalization their information bubble continues to shift from the right to full on conspiracies. Which brings us to today. They truly believe the Pope is actually incarcerated.
And their post was shared hundreds of times and they had over 500 comments from people who also believed it to be true. I've missed so much here, but the whole thing is a perfect case study on what's happening in America today.
Someone should look at the whole thing and do an in-depth story because it's fascinating and terrifying. I can't figure out how it's going to end. It's getting worse by the day. @witfnews @LebanonTown @LDNews @SpotlightPA @MarkPynes @PennLive

Major correction. Apparently they have over 22,000 followers on Facebook.

This is also what I was referring to in the tweets regarding the Pope. They've deleted this Facebook post but doubled down in a Facebook live post immediately after.
