Today, I will be creating a thread of my personal tips for looking after yourself during lockdown! If you have any tips, please share them with us using the hashtag #studentmidwifeselfcare, so we can trace your tips at any time we need them! - @midwifebea
️⃣ Try to wake up at a consistent time everyday, this will help you to develop a consistent and healthy routine. I often give myself a few extra hours to sleep at the weekend to try and differentiate between week days #studentmidwifeselfcare
️⃣ Make time for mindfulness in your day. I try to include a meditation practice in my morning routine. Our Nurture Zone, @all4maternity, has a guided mediation from @thelovelymaeve. Why don’t you try it out today? #studentmidwifeselfcare
️⃣ Exercise - every day I have been working out with a friend using FaceTime. A great way to stay regularly connected with a friend but also a great motivation for you to stick to a routine. Whatever exercise you enjoy, it will make you feel better! #studentmidwifeselfcare
️⃣ Stretch! We are spending so much time at our desks for studying and lectures, not realising the potential for stiffness/tension in your neck and shoulders. Make a small stretch routine to do at your desk (also a good way to refocus when you’re busy) #studentmidwifeselfcare
️⃣ Set boundaries throughout the day. Schedule in times for breaks, to eat lunch and a finishing time in the evening. Having a set routine makes life feel a bit more normal and ensures you have time to rest, which will increase your overall productivity #studentmidwifeselfcare
️⃣ Get outside, even if you only have 5 minutes. I do try to do 10,000 steps but sometimes it’s not possible when you are balancing work and other responsibilities. The main thing is taking some deep breaths in the fresh air and clearing your mind! #studentmidwifeselfcare
️⃣ Create some positive affirmations and repeat these to yourself everyday. What are you trying to cultivate within yourself? What are you trying to achieve? Turn what you are struggling with into positives thoughts. Repeat them until you believe them! #studentmidwifeselfcare
️⃣ Gratitude practices - think about at least 3 things each morning that you are grateful for, they can be big or small. This really changes your mindset and allows you to see positives in every single day, which is especially important at the moment #studentmidwifeselfcare
