1. It’s interesting that to describe the stupidity of a War on Terror waged on the basis of the lie about Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction, and whose consequences we are living with today, le Carré compares it to the even greater stupidity of waging a War on Influenza.
2. Thirteen years later, that’s the war the governments of Western imperialism are waging today under the cloak of COVID-19, not against WMD-possessing Muslims in the Middle East this time, but in a civil war waged on home soil against their own citizens.
3. And like the War on Terror that killed millions, propelled the Middle East into chaos and laid the foundations of the security state, its justification is a lie sold to the public by the media to terrify us into believing in a threat that does not, and never has, existed.
4. There never was a war between Western democracies and Middle-Eastern dictatorships, Christian soldiers and Islamic terrorists, Europeans and Arabs. There was, and still is, the war of the military and industrial complex of global capitalism for diminishing global resources.
5. The battlefield has expanded to include the entire Western hemisphere, the prize for the victors is even more lucrative than the planet's oil resources, and the new weapons employed, such as lockdown, are killing even more people than the US military . . .
6. And the victims now include the lazy, stupid citizens of Western ‘democracy’ who have repeatedly voted for their governments to turn the rest of the world into its killing fields. But the aggressors are still the same, and their goals haven’t changed. This is the War on COVID.
