» high restriction
even in my ed honeymoon phase I was high restricting between 800-1000 cal and after hitting my first ugw (bmi 16.8) i started eating 1200-1400 calories
even in my ed honeymoon phase I was high restricting between 800-1000 cal and after hitting my first ugw (bmi 16.8) i started eating 1200-1400 calories
now im eating 1400-1550 calories every day and im maintaining a bmi of 16.2
» but high restriction will make me gain weight
at the beginning of 2020 i tried to recover eating around 1600-1700 cal and still working out the same
i gained only water weight but after like 2/3 weeks I was back at my regular weight

that proves your metabolism can adjust to higher amounts of calories which means even if you’re low restricting now you can still start high restriction without gaining actual weight
» what i eat
i eat mostly fruits (500-800g through the day, DONT EAT THEM AT ONCE)
they’re a good source of fiber which keeps you full, have a lot of vitamins, are good for you in general and they’re also low cal

i also eat healthy things like: oatmeal, yogurt, rye bread, veggies, veggie pasta (not like zoodles but made from vegetable flour), brown rice, tofu etc
i have sweets and “unhealthy” things very rarely

because low bmi damages your health you should be also looking at how much other macros you’re eating not only calories
» vitamins
every person even healthy should take them (obviously healthy person way less) so if you’re trying to maintain low bmi but also don’t wanna ruin your body as much then you should take them
some basic ones are:
- vitamin d
- magnesium
- iron
- b12
- b6

» ”cheat days”
once in a while (sometimes once in 4 months sometimes 3 days in a month) i allow myself to not count calories for one day but i don’t just eat whatever
i still try to eat healthy and i usually stay around my tdee (~2000 calories)

it helps with cravings (i don’t know about binge urges because it’s not part of my ed) and also motivates me to keep restricting
» protein
underweight bmi can result in osteoporosis which basically means that your bones can get very weak and in order to slow it i eat ~60g of protein every day
it also reduces appetite and keeps you full for longer

protein requires more energy to break down which means you burn more calories just by eating them
» water
i drink 1-2l of water in a day + tea if i want to and i know that everyone says it but it’s really important to stay hydrated
drinking water through the day keeps you full and increases your metabolism

» working out
tbh I was never a person that enjoyed typical exercises so my only activity is walking everyday over 10k steps, playing with my dog (believe me it can be tiring) and things i do around the house (vacuuming, cooking, cleaning etc)

the key is that i keep my body moving most of the day because you burn calories not only when you’re active but also after
also you burn 10 calories here and there and then at the end of the day you have extra 100 calories burned by doing “nothing”

» sleep schedule
it’s important to have somewhat healthy sleeping pattern from 7 to 9 hours a day
it vary depending on a person but sleeping for 3 or 5 hours a day is not good for anyone as it doesn’t allow your body to fully rest before the next day and can lead to

hormone imbalance (eg imbalanced levels of hormones necessary for appetite control)
» losing weight before maintaining
i know that it might seem like the easiest way to lose weight is fasting/low restricting but you probably don’t only want to lose it but also maintain results which will be a lot easier if you high restrict

you won’t damage your metabolism as much, you won’t get as many vitamin deficits and your body will be overall healthier
if you’re still reading please just think about recovery
your life isn’t worth spending it worrying about calories and i can assure you there isn't a single recovered person that regrets choosing recovery
