When the government essentially shuts down a business like it has here, it needs to provide financial support. So far it hasn't.
The current airline wasn't built with taxpayer money, it's been 35 years get over it.

AC has tried everything to make travel safer, they've begged for on site airport testing for every traveller.

Foreign Airlines are still flying all over the world and some taking market share from AC, many having not 1 but 2 govt bailouts (US).
The wage subsidy merely prevented layoffs, it didn't help AC out in any meaningful way. Without that those employees would have ended up on EI.

Refunding non refundable tickets when cash burn and survival is in doubt would have been grossly negligent.
It's not up to airlines to prevent people from travelling, it's their job to meet demand if there is any.

Epidemiologists have said once a virus is circulating in your community travel bans do next to nothing, that's where testing and tracing needs to do the heavy lifting. Why is there still no rapid testing at airports for people arriving?
